We are very pleased to be using the d6 School Communicator programme as an exciting and innovative way of communication between the school and our parents / learners.  The School Communicator keeps you up to date with what is happening at the school. It updates automatically and brings you all the latest news and calendar events.  It also contains a photo gallery, useful documents and some homework.  News is uploaded and available to you within minutes.  Quick alert messages let you know vital information.  You can rely on the School Communicator knowing all the information is in one place.  We can even provide information over weekends eg to inform you that a tour group has arrived safely.  You can download photographs directly from the School Communicator and can save the calendar items in your Outlook calendar.  Read more on www.school.communicator.com.

In order for us to improve our communication with you we encourage you to install the School Communicator on both your computer and mobile phone.  It is safe and secure and is used by more than ¼ million people worldwide.  Businesses are willing to allow parents to download the programme onto the work computers of parents .  Many large companies use the d6 as their internal communication method eg VWSA and some large banking institutions.  We encourage our Riebeek girls to install it and show it to their parents.  If you are on a company network, you might need to ask your network administrator to assist you.  Over 100 000 parents are already successfully using the School Communicator both at home and at work. You can install the School Communicator on as many computers, cell phones and devices as you like.  The School Communicator typically uses 30 MB of data a month but this will fluctuate from month to month depending on how often content is updated, but would not be excessive.  The School Communicator is a lightweight application and should have no noticeable impact on your computer.  In some instances you might need to change your anti-virus or firewalls settings to allow the School Communicator to run.

Always up-to-date:  News and relevant information is added regularly and your School Communicator will automatically update as new information is added.  You can SELECT which news and calendar information you would like to receive.  Click on the PERSONALISE tab and select the relevant channels from the list provided. 

Privacy: Any personal information shared with the school communicator (including your registration details) is absolutely private, and may only be used by the school.  It may not be sold or shared with any third party.  The School Communicator servers are protected by Thawte to ensure no unauthorised access of your details.

Installing the School Communicator is simple:                                                                                

 You can insert the CD into your computer.

             It should play automatically.

Click on the install button and follow the on-screen instructions. 

Should you have been issued with a CD, please return to school via the register class teacher once you have used it. 

Should you require a CD, please arrange via

 the register class teacher.

Select your organisation in the drop down list on the left.

Click on the windows button.

When asked to ‘Run or save’ the file, click ‘save’ first and thereafter run.

Follow the installation prompts from then.

Select your organisation in the drop down list on the left.

Click on the Mac button.

Follow the steps from then.

Mac installer is compatible with Mac OS 10.6 and higher.

• For your iphone or ipad, you can follow the link on www.school.communicator.com/ downloads or download from the App store (itunes.apple.com):                                                                     Visit the App Store.                                       Search for the d6 School Communicator.    Click open.                                                          Follow the prompts and don’t forget to personalise to receive the news you want.

Open the Google Play Store.

Search for the d6 School Communicator.

Click the Install button.

Don’t forget to personalise so that you only get the news specific to your child
