SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

On Thursday 2nd March 38 girls, Mrs Stroebel and the English staff attended a presentation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the Mannville Open Air Theatre in St Georges Park. This is an event that the girls look forward to every year and the three available busses are always full. The school was complimented on the behaviour of the girls by Mrs Helen Wilkens, one of the organizers in charge of bookings and front of house.

Geography outing

On Friday 24 February, the Grade 10 Geography girls left to visit the Port Elizabeth Weather Office at the PE Airport.  The staff at the Weather Office were most accommodating and knowledgeable, giving information on various aspects of the weather.  The girls learnt about synoptic weather maps, automatic weather stations, weather balloons, weather forecasting and were fortunate to see some of the equipment used.  It was interesting to learn that there are many cameras scattered all over Port Elizabeth, Despatch and Uitenhage that monitor the weather continuously.  The excursion was informative, interesting and enjoyable.  The time was well-spent and memorable.     A very big and appreciative thank you to the Staff at the Port Elizabeth Weather Office.
