Second team excels

Congratulations to the Second Senior Hockey team who played against Strelitzia on 11 August. They beat Strelitzia's first team 5-3. Special note must be made of Whitney Goliath who scored three out of the five goals. Well done! Although it was an extremely hot day, the girls never gave up and persisted in attack. Jamie-Lee Daniels, Waseema Salie and Sandiso Ntsele should be commended for their efforts on the field.

14C champions

The U14C team coached by Mr Jonas with Aphelele Toyis played Collegiate and lost 4-0. Michelle Harmse put up a ferocious battle in the midfield but needed the strikers to score the goals. This was the girls' second match of the season and Mr Jonas is proud of their commitment and perseverance as they fought to the last minute. Mr Jonas rewarded their efforts with a trip to McDonalds for an ice-cream. The match was played in good spirit and that is the most important thing in sport - good, clean fun.

Capt: Lindokuhle Gosani Opponents: Herbert Hurd - Away
Result: Won
Score: 1-2
Goal Scorer/s: Boiketlo Mtau and Mihle Mafongosi
Special Mention of ...
The goals scorers.

Aphelele Toyis in the defense, made sure nothing after the 1st goal were going to pass her.
Trune Viljoen and Kwakho Bissett kept the midfield tight and fed the strikers with good through balls to allow for good strikes at goal.
Comments:
The girls have had many opportunities to score but 2 goals were enough to seal their victory.
As usual they were spoilt with a treat at Mc Donald's. I am still very proud of my girls.

THE GREAT HOCKEY ENCOUNTER OF 27 MAY

u14 hockey tour

The Junior U/14A tour was fantstic. We would just like to thank Mrs Stear for joining us on our tour. MonkeyLand was the final stop and highlight of our trip. We got to see various types of monkeys as well as apes. Our stop became a little more interesting when a monkey snatched Mrs Stear's glasses out her hand and disappeared with them. Luckily, the guides were able to get the glasses back. It was an awesome experience. The girls managed to bring home 3 out of the 12 eggs safely that they were meant to look after. Well done to Sarah Mac Farlane, Roshaan May and Never Burness for bringing their eggs home safely.

Riebeek at the collegiate hockey festival

Riebeek Jnr 1st team squad at the Collegiate Hockey Festival: It was a good start to the season. The girls got to play as a team for the first time. 2 matches were played on Astro and 2 were played on grass. With all seasons in one day and all weather conditions: rain, thunder, sunshine and wind, the girls didn't give up and worked on bettering their game play each match. Girl of the festival: Wade-Lee Muller. Thank you to Riley for umpiring the games. Thank you to Miss Panayiotou for coaching and taking the girls to PE. Best of luck to the team, Miss Panayiotou and Mrs Stear as they head off on Monday morning to the next hockey festival on their busy calendar.
