Riebeek College Girls' High School Press Release - Uitenhage Child Welfare donations
Mrs Johanna Hendricks, Miss Thuthuzelwa Mdyova, Mrs Bernadette Hambridge and Mrs Magdaleen Maarman from the Uitenhage Child Welfare collected gifts for children for Christmas and school shoes.  Mrs Snyman, Deputy Principal, and Mrs Stear, Principal, passed on the gifts at the handover. The Junior School learners and matrics donated items for the children in need in the Uitenhage community.

Mrs Kieran Stear, principal of Riebeek College, said: “The annual tradition of our girls providing gifts for children in the community and our matrics donating school shoes prove the maxim that it does indeed take a village to raise a child.  Our Ubuntu theme for the year of ‘I am because we are’ has led to an even greater appreciation in the Riebeek Family of our inter-connectivity and our role in reaching out and serving.  I have been thrilled, astounded and proud as I have seen the Riebeek girls embrace the empathy and compassion aspects of our Ubuntu year.  Our Mandela100@Riebeek100+ acts of kindness campaign had us exceed the 200 acts mark and we are grateful for the lessons learnt in 2018 of giving, sharing and caring.”

We received this message from Child Welfare: The donation is as always appreciated and put to good use during the Christmas Outreach at this office.  The school shoes are so welcome and will be used in the New School Year We deeply appreciate your support in the services that we render to children and their families. Richest Blessings, Zelda Zwiegers
