Riebeek College proudly welcomes Mrs Bernadette Jonas to the Riebeek Family as our Clothing Shop manager.  Mrs Jonas is well known to the Riebeek community as Bernie, as she has had a long standing relationship with Muir and Riebeek as mom to a Muir Head Boy, mom to a Riebeek prefect and her husband is our well loved staff member, Mr Basil Jonas. 
Mrs Jonas matriculated from David Livingstone Secondary School located in Gqeberha, then known as Port Elizabeth.  She writes, "My career started at an automotive workshop where I was responsible for managing the monthly payroll. Thereafter, I was appointed at Ackermans as a sales assistant and later became the assistant manager at the store. I completed my retail career at Markham where I was involved in cell phone sales, merchandising, and assistant store management.”
Her goal for the Clothing Shop is to have parents to feel that they are working with a professional individual and that they leave the clothing shop with a smile on their faces. She wants parents to say that they had an easy and pleasant shopping experience. She writes, “I identified an opportunity where I felt that the little that I could contribute could perhaps make a small difference those that I may come across in my line of work.”
Tawfeeq and Tegan, her children, both graduated from the Nelson Mandela University. Tegan is a foundation phase teacher, and Tawfeeq is a lecturer, who fittingly married a Riebeek Old Girl!.  She has been married to Mr Jonas for 28 years and is a grandmother to her precious 5-year-old grandson, Kaiyahn. She loves anything that involves being outdoors and exploring mother nature.
Mrs Jonas said that what she likes about Riebeek is the friendly staff and cheerful students. They make everyday a pleasure to be part of the Riebeek family.
