During the past weekend, Riebeek Senior hockey teams competed in the E.P. Hockey Tournament hosted by Pearson (U/18), Collegiate (U/16) and Alexander Road (U/14).

As part of Pool C the U/18s competed against Kingswood, Alexander Road, VP and Linkside. During the play-off rounds on Sunday, the girls played against VG and Cradock. Although extremely hot, the players truly performed well. All team members made a significant contribution to the team’s performance, but the players who deserve a special mention for their tenacity and commitment are Shanice Pietersen, Lenea Naidoo and Robyn Thomson.

The excited group of U/16 players delivered a determined performance against Nico Malan, Framesby, Kingswood, Collegiate, VP and Alexander Road. Courageous and inspiring play was evident in the commitment by players like Shannon Blignaut, Chene Simon, Aton de Vos, Sinovuyo Madlavu and Lara Naidoo.

The U/14 team experienced their first taste of high school hockey during this weekend, as they played against some of the top schools in the province. Their opponents were VG, Pearson, DSG, VP and Kingswood. Players who really stood out and who show great promise for the future are Octavia Johannes, Casey Els, Ashlynne Arnolds, Anovuyo Selani and Naledi Mankayi.
