Jodi Hattingh was selected as one of the Top 20 candidates in recognition of her involvement in the community.

Jodi is actively involved in all spheres of the school programme: She excels academically. She represents the school in First Team Hockey (with Eastern Province representation), First Team Swimming and First Team Tennis (and she serves as the Captain of the Swimming and Tennis Teams).  Her leadership roles include being a School Prefect and the Deputy Head of the Cultural Board. 

She makes an immense contribution in, particularly, the area of service as a Girl Guide, Interact Board member and community volunteer.  Jodi was awarded the Girl Guides Protea Award this year, which is the highest award a youth member can attain.  She is Chairperson of the Ranger Crew and a Teddy leader, attended the National Council Meeting in March 2010 and represented South Africa at the International Girl Guide Camp in Canada in July 2010. 

Jodi serves on the National Youth Committee with her term of office being three years and her key focus is on empowering the youth particularly with her effective Powerpoint presentations on human trafficking.  She is an excellent ambassador for the Girl Guides Movement as she lives by the principals of the Girl Guides. 

As an Interact Board Member and a member of the Girls Guides, Jodi has served the community extensively.  She is a volunteer at the Uitenhage Santa TB Hospital for Children, the SPCA and the Uitenhage Rape Crisis Centre; and is also a Sunday School Teacher.  As the head of events as part of her duties on the Interact Board, Jodi has shown that she respects the values of service above self.  Jodi is also on the First Aid Committee and regularly does duty at sporting events. 

Jodi has attained All Rounder Awards at our school and been recognised by our Premier Awards over the years for her exceptional contributions, her all-round participation and her academic achievements.  She is a shining example of a healthy, principled young lady who has sound morals and integrity.
