A Lifting Experience

BY Administrator

Riebeek College Girls’ High School performed the annual drama production called Lifted in the school hall on 23 and 25 February 2012.

“One voice can lift your spirits” was the blessing behind the theme of the show. It was directed by Grade 11 learner, Kelly Griffiths with amazing support from Zandile Mantile, Shayna Kooverjee and Danelle Klaasen on sound, Lelethu Dube on visuals and a cast of 130 disciplined and talented young ladies who are already stars.

With music from Abba, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra, Katie Perry and many others; the show focused on the story behind some of the most well known songs, a drama piece on the pursuit of happiness and extracts from the most inspiring songs ever written.

The show was a burst of colourful fireworks which promoted the idea that we can all be positive and have a story to tell while recognising the effect music has on us.

Theme songs from Cheers and Friends brought back much nostalgia as a tribute to the songs that form the soundtrack of our lives.

Highlights included a waltz by staff, energetic dance routines and the story of inspirational songs.

The finale created fireworks and ended with the message that you are the voice and your song is still unwritten.
